Vauxhall are disrupting the UK car market by offering the New Frontera Electric and Hybrid at the same list price, a groundbreaking move in a market where electric vehicles (EVs) typically command a significant price premium over their petrol counterparts. Starting at £23,495, this pricing strategy marks a major step towards making electric mobility more accessible to a broader audience. With the average list price increase for EV models across the market being an average of 31%, offering an EV at the same price as a traditional ICE vehicle narks a turning point in adaption strategy and hopefully more car makers follow Stellantis’ lead.

James Taylor, Managing Director at Vauxhall, emphasized the brand's commitment to democratizing access to electric vehicles. With initiatives like the Electric Streets campaign and equivalent monthly PCP offers, Vauxhall is making EV ownership more attainable. The New Frontera, priced equally whether you choose the electric or hybrid variant, eliminates the usual cost barrier, offering cutting-edge technology at an affordable price point.

The New Frontera boasts a bold and rugged design, featuring Vauxhall’s signature Vizor front-end, prominent wheel arches, and a choice between 16-inch black steel wheels or 17-inch alloy wheels depending on the trim level. With a similar footprint to the Astra hatchback, the Frontera offers impressive boot capacity, particularly with the rear seats folded. Inside, the Frontera continues its modern aesthetic with a spacious interior, a Pure Panel cockpit, and practical features like wireless Apple CarPlay™/Android Auto™ and clever storage solutions. The vehicle is available in two trims—Design and GS—each offering a range of features from driver assistance systems to optional comfort packs.

The New Frontera offers two powertrain options: a petrol hybrid with 48-volt technology and a fully electric model. The hybrid version pairs a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine with an electric motor, offering a balance of performance and efficiency, while the electric model features a 113hp motor with a 186-mile range on a single charge, extendable to 248 miles in the upcoming Long Range version. Sharing the same platform as Auto Express' Car of The Year - Citroen's e-C3 - the Frontera EV is bound to appeal to a market where drivers are looking for affordable, practical EV models over cars aimed at the luxury buyers.

Vauxhall has officially opened orders for its New Grandland, a dynamic and spacious SUV that marks a significant step forward in the brand’s design and technology. The New Grandland starts at £34,700 OTR, with deliveries beginning in October. Positioned as the flagship of Vauxhall’s SUV lineup, this model incorporates bold design elements inspired by the Vauxhall Experimental concept, such as the 3D Vizor, which is standard across all trims. Vauxhall has streamlined the New Grandland’s offerings into three trim levels: Design, GS, and Ultimate. 

Each trim level comes with a suite of advanced features, from LED lighting and driver assistance technologies to high-end audio systems and panoramic glass roofs, ensuring that the New Grandland meets a variety of customer needs while delivering on Vauxhall’s promise of innovation, comfort, and sustainability. The GS trim and above also feature an illuminated Griffin logo in the center of the front grille, complemented by distinctive compass-style lighting details at both the front and rear.

At 4,650mm in length, the New Grandland is the largest model in Vauxhall's refreshed SUV range, which also includes the Mokka and the upcoming Frontera. This size translates into superior passenger comfort, ample interior space, and generous storage options. A key highlight is the introduction of Vauxhall’s Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD lighting system, which features over 50,000 individual elements, providing high-definition light distribution tailored to traffic conditions. This system, along with the vehicle’s BEV-native STLA Medium platform, sets the New Grandland apart in terms of both innovation and sustainability. The platform supports a new flat battery design that will eventually enable a 98kWh battery and an electric range of up to 435 miles.

The New Grandland’s interior showcases Vauxhall’s commitment to comfort and technology. The driver-oriented cockpit includes a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a fully digital 10-inch cluster that displays essential driving information. Higher trims offer a larger 16-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone charging and additional features such as AGR-certified ergonomic seats with Intelli-Seat technology, providing exceptional comfort, especially on long journeys. The SUV also excels in interior versatility, offering over 35 liters of storage space, including innovative solutions like the illuminated Pixel Box, which securely stores and charges smartphones. The rear seats can be folded down in a 40:20:40 split, expanding the load volume to 1,645 liters.

From launch, the New Grandland offers a fully electrified range of powertrains, including the New Grandland Electric, which features a 73kWh battery and a range of up to 325 miles on a single charge. A Long-Range version with a 98kWh battery is expected next year, extending the range to an estimated 435 miles. Recharging the battery to 80% takes just 26 minutes at a rapid charger.

Customers can also enjoy monthly price parity between electric and hybrid versions thanks to Vauxhall’s innovative five-year PCP offer on electric models, meaning that drivers can choose a new EV for the same monthly cost as one of the hybrids.

The Jeep® brand is charging into the electrified SUV segment with the reveal of its first global battery-electric vehicle (BEV) – the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition (US only). The all-new, all-electric 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S will launch first in the U.S. and Canada in the second half of 2024 and later be available in markets around the world. The Jeep Wagoneer S is offered exclusively as a BEV with a range of more than 300 miles on a single charge, delivering 600 horsepower, lightning-quick 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds and more than 800 Nm of instant torque. This 0-60 time overshadows the 707hp Hellcat powered Trackhawk from a standing start. Impressive performance credentials paired with the Jeep brand-exclusive Selec-Terrain traction management system, Jeep Wagoneer S instils driving confidence and traction for all weather and road conditions and offering a range set to be over 300miles (this data refers to US spec and US cycle only).

Stellantis-designed electric drive modules (EDMs) independently power the front and rear wheels for instant torque response, while the Jeep brand-exclusive Selec-Terrain traction management system features five distinct driving modes: Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow, Sand. The Jeep Wagoneer S’s 3-in-1 EDMs combine the electric motor, gearing and power electronics into a single, compact unit that is both powerful and efficient. The front EDM is equipped with wheel disconnects to reduce energy draw when cruising and to help optimize range. The use of new technologies and techniques played a crucial role in the overall development of the Jeep Wagoneer S. To improve the driving experience and reduce the overall noise and vibration levels to create a quiet interior cabin and a smooth ride, the Jeep engineering team improved body torsion stiffness by 35% over previous midsize-segment Jeep brand SUVs for superior ride, handling and effective response to driver input. 

When it comes to an all-electric vehicle, aerodynamics is a crucial component to the overall design equation. Jeep brand designers and engineers set aggressive goals to reach optimal aerodynamic performance for maximum efficiency, range and performance while maintaining its sleek, premium appearance. By utilizing state-of-the-art tools and a rigorous testing and development process, including state-of-the-art wind tunnels, the team achieved a coefficient of drag (C_D) of 0.29, which is the lowest C_D ever for a Jeep vehicle and approximately 15% better than the average SUV.
