What to expect for your Installation

You've chosen your charger, now what happens?

Deciding on the charger is just the first step in having your convenient home charging solution for your EV. In order to be able to get your charger installed, there can be a few more steps needed in the overall process.

Once we have carried out our survey for the installation, we'll contact your network operator. These are the companies that actually service the energy network in your area, who that will be depends on the area of the country you are in. By informing them of the install, they could come back with a number of options. The ideal option is a relatively quick go-ahead with no upgrades required.

However we might be informed that your property needs upgrades to be able to support your charger. This can range from a requirement that the CT-clamp will be used to help limit total current draw, or that you may require much more in-depth wiring and hardware to be installed. Any upgrades highlighted at this point will be carried out by your energy network free of charge, and by their engineers. This may take some time depending on their availability, so can slow down the process of having your charger installed. We'll do everything we can to help and keep you informed, and advised during this time.

If you qualify for the OZEV Chargepoint Grant for Renters and Flat owners - as a renter, you will need to make sure you have permission from your landlord before work can begin. This may mean speaking to your Housing Association or local council if you rent from them, so please bear in mind that this stage will depend on their speed of reply. They may wish to visit your home to inspect before, or after, the installation as part of the permission given.
